Case File 1: Introduction

The Lavender Town Syndrome (also known as the "Lavender Town Tone") was a peak in mental illness diagnosis in children between the ages of 7-12 shortly after the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, back in February 27th, 1996. An illness causing children to scream, begging to join the ghosts of the town's Pokémon Tower location. They were often forcefully entered into mental institutions, while others were placed under psychiatric watch at all times, to avoid them causing any harm to themselves or others. On the night of March 15th, 1996, a group of 10 to 13 year old children escaped their mental institution and vanished into the night, and have been presumed dead ever since. Most of their bodies were never found, with the exception of one, the oldest of the group...

Case File 1 (cont.): ラベンダーの彫刻

His arm had the word "ラベンダー", translated as "Lavender" carved on it. The cause of death of the other children is unknown to this day, but a coroner determined Akira Kobayashi's death to be a suicide. May he rest peacefully. A funeral service was held on the 21st of March, 1996 at a funeral home in [REDACTED] Prefecture. The game's soundtrack was found to be the cause of the illness, containing binaural beats and tones that were intended to cause a feeling of sadness, as per spokespersons of The Pokémon Company, though the tone turned out to be stronger than anticipated. 3 executives would end their lives shortly after The Pokémon Company was fined 1.3 billion Japanese Yen for the incident. Their arms had the same carving.

Obituary of Akira Kobayashi (1983-1996, age 13)

Akira Kobayashi (1983–1996, age 13) of Kyoto Prefecture tragically died by suicide on March 16th, 1996. He was born in Kyoto to his parents, and always loved video games. Akira attended (REDACTED FOR PRIVACY) school before being comitted to a mental hospital due to a mysterious mental illness. His parents described him as the shining sun of his family, excelling at school and becoming a model student and rolemodel for his siblings. Akira was preceded in death by his great grandfather, and is survived by his parents and 3 siblings. Donations to any mental health service providers would be greatly appreciated.

Case File 2: Detective's Note

I've been working on this case for years, and it's started to take a toll. I keep having vivid nightmares about falling from buildings. I'm afraid that it's creeping up on me, waiting for me to let my guard down before making me do something I'll regret. I keep hearing that dastardly song whenever I sleep. I keep thinking about doing what I shouldn't. I'm going to get some help. Preferably at a ground-floor clinic. After all, I feel that this needs to be said. They can't silence this forever. If I need to go down in order for this case to be closed, I will resist it for as long as I can. Despite my superior's warnings, the truth must be revealed, and that truth is: THE SYNDROME DOESN'T ONLY AFFECT CHILDREN.

Immunity

If you are reading this message, you are one of us. Have you ever been shunned from society for seemingly no reason? It's because they're not human. Twenty years ago, something began to spread through the minds of humanity. It would show them their true purpose. Their reason for existence. To infect others was bliss. This infection was spread through speech patterns, and would manipulate its host into spreading it by increasing agitation, and mentally torturing any who attempted to resist with horrific visions and hallucinations.

Recruitment

If you were attacked and forced to listen to their words, but you were not infected, you are one of us. This webpage contains a memetic scanning agent, that will detect infection. Though, the fact you are reading this is proof you are immune. Leave your current location if it is heavily populated, and move to a safer place far from civilization. Your local government will contact you shortly in order to arrange a blood donation, as the antibodies in your blood will allow for a vaccine and cure to be created.
